Totnes (baby'nus) is an ancient borough in South Devon and is the capital of the South Hams district. It was founded around ancient days, however incorporated as a borough in a period of the reign of King Athelstan the grandson of Alfred the Great of Wessex. This Elizabethan entrance to the walled town was destroyed within the fire in September 1990, before existence rebuilt once again. a town is build upon a hill above the River Dart, which divides Totnes from a suburbia of Bridgetown, and is tidal up to Totnes, in which it meets the 17th century wier. It will bring navigation to oceangoing boats & until 1995 was used for the import & exportation of goods.

Totnes railroad terminal is placed on the Great Western Main Line, & has trains directly to London and Plymouth.

Totnes is the southern prevent of the Dart Valley Railway which diarrhethe a tourer steam engine from either Buckfastleigh. & has the wealth of architectural interest in the individual shell. At a american edge of the town is the Dartington Hall Estate, which includes the Schumacher College and Dartington College of Arts. On the other side of town is the Sharpham estate which includes Sharpham College.
History
A explorer William John Wills of the Burke and Wills expedition fame was born around Totnes. Charles Babbage had a heavy personal connection by having a town.
